Open county contracting to qualified local businesses through a fair, transparent process — not closed doors and unnecessary barriers.
The Challenge
Too many capable, licensed, and insured local contractors find the county's contracting process confusing, costly, or effectively closed to them. Unnecessary barriers and opaque bonding requirements can shut out the very businesses that hire locally and reinvest in their own communities.
Michael's Approach
Michael will work to create a fair and transparent contracting process where qualified local businesses can compete on a level playing field.
The Evans administration will seek to reduce unnecessary bureaucratic barriers and put an end to exclusionary practices that keep capable local firms on the sidelines.
The campaign proposes reviewing and reforming the bonding process so that licensed and insured local contractors are not priced out before they can even bid.
Michael will prioritize clear, accessible information so small and local businesses understand how to work with Wayne County.
