Rooted in Detroit

Michael A. Evans was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan — a city that taught him the value of hard work, community, and looking out for your neighbors. He attended Chadsey High School and graduated from Ferndale High School.

Those early years in and around Detroit gave Michael a deep, firsthand understanding of Wayne County's neighborhoods, its people, and the challenges working families face every day.

Service, Enterprise, and Family

Michael served his country as a United States Army veteran, built an accomplished career as a respected business owner, and raised five successful adult children. Each of those experiences shaped his belief that real leadership requires discipline, honesty, service, and accountability.

Military service instilled a sense of duty. Running a business taught him fiduciary responsibility and careful stewardship of resources. And raising a family rooted him in the strong family ties that remain at the center of who he is — and why he is running.

Leadership, Defined by Choices

Michael's “why” stems from a simple conviction: leadership is not defined by where you start, but by the choices you make, the responsibility you accept, and the service you give to others. Earlier in his life, Michael made mistakes that led to a conviction. He took accountability for those actions, fulfilled his obligation, and committed himself to becoming a better person.

He has never asked anyone to overlook his past. Instead, he has worked to earn trust the only way that lasts — through honesty, accountability, and consistent action. His journey has taught him resilience and humility.

A Record of Community Leadership

Over the years, Michael has built a strong reputation for upstanding community leadership — working alongside residents, nonprofits, faith leaders, business owners, and neighborhood organizations to create positive change.

He has helped strengthen local programs, mentored young people, and advocated for seniors and underserved communities, dedicating his time to improving the lives of others. Those efforts reflect who Michael is today: someone committed to lifting people up and solving problems.

Why He's Running

Michael is running for Wayne County Executive to bring the values that have guided his life to county government: responsibility, transparency, fairness, and sound business practices that work for all residents.

His experience has shown him that government should create opportunities for people to succeed while holding itself to the highest standards of integrity and accountability. As Wayne County Executive, Michael will focus on safer neighborhoods, economic growth, transparent government, quality public services, and partnerships that strengthen every community in the county. He will listen while he leads — with compassion and common sense — making decisions based on what most benefits the people of Wayne County.

The Character to Lead

Michael's past is part of his story, but it does not define his future. His record of service, leadership, and dedication to this community does.

He asks for your support because he has demonstrated the character to learn, grow, and lead with purpose. Together, we can build a Wayne County where opportunity, accountability, and hope are available to everyone.
